In loving memory

Margaret "Maggie"
Thompson

1942 2026

Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her

Remember
forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts, forever in our hearts,

She filled every room she walked into, not with noise, but with warmth. The kind of warmth that made you sit a little longer, talk a little more honestly, and leave feeling like the world made a little more sense.

A Life Well Lived

1942
Born in Whitley Bay
Margaret Anne Wilson arrived on a crisp October morning. Her mother always said she came into the world smiling.
1960
Met Arthur at the Majestic Ballroom
He asked her to dance three times before she said yes. She told him later she'd said yes the moment he walked in.
1964
Married Arthur Thompson
St. Mary's Church, a June wedding. It rained, and she said that was perfect, it meant the flowers would bloom.
1966-1970
David and Sarah arrive
The house on Elm Avenue filled with laughter, scraped knees, and the smell of baking. She wouldn't have had it any other way.
1978
Started the garden
What began as a few rose bushes became her sanctuary. Neighbours would stop just to look. She'd always invite them in for tea.
1995
Became a grandmother
Tom arrived first, then Emma, then James. She said being a grandparent was all the joy of parenthood with none of the worry. Arthur disagreed.
2012
Lost Arthur after 48 years
She grieved deeply but privately. When friends asked how she was coping, she'd say, "I still talk to him every morning. He just doesn't argue back."
2026
Peacefully, surrounded by family
She went the way she lived, gently, gracefully, with the people she loved most in the world beside her. The porch light stayed on.

Tribute Wall

Maggie was my neighbour for over thirty years. Every morning she'd wave from the garden, every evening she'd check I was alright. The street feels quieter now. But I still wave, just in case.

She taught my daughter to bake scones when she was six. Lily is twenty-three now and still uses Maggie's recipe. Some people leave behind fortunes. Maggie left behind something better, she left behind warmth.

I met Maggie once, at a church fete in 2019. We sat together for an hour and she told me about her roses. I drove home and planted my first rose bush that evening. Some people change your life in an hour.
